I am currently a senior at Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in Social Work, minoring in Global Ministry, and earning a certificate in Child Advocacy. Throughout the last few years, I have loved what I’ve been learning and am eager to put that into practice. Next semester, January-April 2024, I have the opportunity to study abroad in Ghana, Africa. I will be completing my final practicum working at New Light Children’s Home through Ghana Ministries.

During the summer of 2015 (I was about to enter 7th grade), I attended Jr. High Camp at my favorite place – Fairmount Camp. One night during evening service, the speaker challenged us to pray a prayer that hit me deeply, “God, break my heart for what breaks Yours.” I have never forgotten those words and continue to pray that fervently over my life. Little did I know, the Lord would answer that prayer and break my heart again and again for the ‘least of these’. This change in perspective has shaped the way I live my life. God has developed a tenderness in my heart for children that are vulnerable, oppressed, and overlooked. He has called me to love, serve, and witness to those who I encounter. In my obedience to this call, He continually blows me away with His peace and provision. Fast forward to the summer of 2022, and I am once again at Fairmount Camp. I had the privilege to sit down with some of the directors of Ghana Ministries to hear countless stories of how God has worked and continues to work in Ghana and through this organization.

Together, we began envisioning the possibility of a social work practicum site at New Light Children’s Home. Since that afternoon talk, God opened so many doors unexpectantly. Now I’m in the process of purchasing plane tickets to spend a few months on the other side of the world! There have been countless ‘God stories’ that I could share. You will just have to trust me that His hand has been so evident in every detail of this story.
This past June, I was able to visit Ghana on a mission’s trip and meet the children of New Light for the first time. It was a powerful yet challenging experience. I was able to see the Lord work in such tangible ways through how He has provided financially, relationally, emotionally, and spiritually for the organization, team of directors, and the many children that now call New Light home. I was once again blown away by God’s faithfulness and His love that He lavishly pours out on His children.

Looking ahead, there is still so much required to prepare for my time overseas. I will be working closely with the children, house mother, and directors of Ghana Ministries. Relationships will be built, learning

will be implemented, and culture will be embraced but most importantly, Jesus will be glorified.
I have two bold requests for you as I move forward in this process. First, would you consider being a committed prayer warrior for me January – April of 2024? Would you pray for my health and safety? Would you pray for perseverance as I strive to serve joyfully and obediently? And would you pray for the relationships I will develop with the villagers, children, and directors of Ghana Ministries? Secondly, would you consider financially supporting me during my semester abroad? The complete financial amount needed is $10,000 by December 15th. If feel compelled to give, I have provided some information how you can do so below.

Thank you so much for the you have poured into my life. I am overwhelmed with gratitude toward Lord for surrounding me with such a supportive and loving community. Thank you for your support through prayer and/or your finances. You’re simply amazing:)
