Dr. Elijah Asamoah is a surgeon and the Chief Executive Officer of Volunteer Ministries Ghana. His professional career has been dedicated to caring for others, and that same commitment to service is at the heart of his work through Volunteer Ministries Ghana and New Light Children’s Home.
Volunteer Ministries Ghana was established with a desire to serve people in need and create opportunities for individuals and organizations to make a meaningful difference in Ghana. Through this ministry, Dr. Elijah has worked to bring together local leadership, volunteers, resources, and partnerships to address both immediate needs and long-term opportunities within the communities it serves.
That commitment ultimately helped lead to the development of New Light Children’s Home.
New Light exists to provide more than a place to live for orphans and children in need. The vision is to provide a safe and loving environment where children can be cared for, know Jesus Christ, receive an education, access healthcare, develop their God-given abilities, and be intentionally prepared for adulthood.
For Dr. Elijah, the goal is not simply to care for children while they are young. It is to help develop a generation of Christ-centered young men and women who are prepared to build strong families, lead with purpose, and make a positive difference in their communities.
Dr. Elijah works closely with Ghana Ministries as a ministry partner in the continued growth and development of New Light Children’s Home and the programs surrounding it.

His experience in medicine, public health, leadership, and ministry provides a unique perspective on caring for the whole person—spiritually, physically, educationally, and socially.
