But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. - Psalm 10:14

Presently, the children use holes that are surrounded by cement. This provides “bathrooms” for the 60 orphans and 350 students at the school. Recently, district authorities have ordered that new facilities must be constructed. The smell is unbelievable and the “facility” is extremely unsanitary. We are fundraising to provide 12 new toilets, 6 for the boys and 6 for the girls. This includes showers as well.
We are raising funds to install a septic tank, grading the existing area, pipes, lines, etc. Mary is researching to partner with an energy renewal company that converts waste to energy.
Most of the children slept on bed frames with no mattresses. Mattresses were purchased on the first visit. On our next visit, we plan to repair the ceiling in the boy's barracks and repaint the walls where black mold has grown.
We are impressed with Mary’s administrative skills. While we were there in December 2016 she used the money we brought with us to have a ceiling and doors installed in the dining hall. It was interesting to watch this happen without any power tools. The area is used as the common area where the children eat, congregate and do homework only they couldn’t eat in this area. Birds roosted in the rafters above soiling the tables below. Now they have a functioning dining hall/homework center.
